When you look at the iphone, it’s hard to argue with the notion that it’s really ahead of all the other smartphones when it comes to style, functionality and looks. Yes, the iphone is in a category all by itself and therefore you’ve also got to find a great looking Bluetooth headset that compliments your phone perfectly.

When it comes to buying Bluetooth accessories for iphone, a quality headset is essential to how well you’ll be able to enjoy using your new smartphone. Fortunately, there are several top-notch wireless headsets that will fit your needs.

VXI BlueParrott B100 Wireless Headset

The VXI BlueParrott is a professional headset that is ergonomically designed for comfort. It has a noise canceling microphone, which you’ll appreciate if you’re going to be using your iphone in an office environment. It has a 75 foot range, but that seems to vary a bit depending on the area. The clarity is pretty good, but you may sound a little muffled to some callers. This headset is also compatible with standard desk phones.

Plantronics Voyager 510 Wireless Headset

The Plantronics Voyager is truly a new age headset. It can switch back and forth between your iphone, your PDA or laptop. This is really a smart headset that can detect which device you are using at the time, pretty cool, huh?

It’s comfortable and has excellent sound clarity on both ends. If you’re looking for great style, unfortunately, this headset doesn’t have it, in fact, it looks pretty basic, plus it’s a bit bulky, but if you love functionality, this is one you should really consider.

Jawbone Noise Shield Wireless Headset

If you love style, the Jawbone is your kind of headset. It has a very modern, futuristic design that will make you look cool when wearing it. It’s noise canceling system works like a charm to block out surrounding noise. It can also be worn in either ear.

That sleek design comes at a price. The control buttons are hidden on the back, something you’ll get used to once you use these for a day or so. Also, it’s a little bigger than some other headsets, but it’s also very lightweight. A major iphone problem seems to be trying to get a proper fit that’s comfortable. It’s recommended that you try all of the earbuds and hooks that come with the unit until it fits properly.

Gomadic Wireless Headset

Gomadic claims that this is the best iphone wireless headset around. Indeed, it has a nice, sleek design and digital noise reduction. The talk time is 12 hours. However, these are not specially made for the iphone, since they are compatible with other phones, as well. The scoop is that Gomadic is attaching itself to the iphone for marketing reasons. Therefore, don’t buy these because Gomadic claims they’re the best, compare these with all the other models and make up your own mind.

As you can see, there are lots of great wireless headsets that are a good fit with your new iphone. When choosing one, it’ll come down to your own personal preferences for size, style and functionality. It’s quite possible that you’ll choose more than one headset. Whichever you buy, make sure you’re getting your money’s worth – your iphone deserves it.

To the ordinary consumers, Fujifilm Holdings Corporation is best known for its photographic and imaging products like Fuji digital cameras. This Tokyo-based company, however, is much more than that. Fujifilm has also distinguished itself in office equipment products, flat panel display, medical systems, and life sciences. The company counts on 223 subsidiaries and over 70,000 employees worldwide for the manufacture, distribution and product research.

In 2007, Fujifilm emerged no. 17 in the listing of companies with the most patents registered in the USA, an indication of the company’s vast technological armory in optics, digital imaging, thin film coating and fine chemical applications. With almost $25 billion in global revenues, Fujifilm has consistently ranked among the world’s largest companies, occupying the 142nd slot on Fortune Magazine Top 400 and holding the 217th place on BusinessWeek’s Global 1000 list.

Formerly operating as Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd., the company was the prime-mover of the development of Japan’s first electronic computer, called FUJIC, which saw completion in 1956. In more contemporary times, Fujinon lenses helped shape moviemaking history with a Fujifilm company supplying high-definition lenses in the filming of Darth Vader scenes shot in total darkness for the George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. A high-definition Fujinon Cine lens was developed for these particular scenes which are difficult to film with regular movie camera equipment. What the Fujinon HD Cine lens delivered were images expressing texture and reproducing subtle black hues. The high performance of these lenses enabled the Fujifilm company Fujinon to win an Emmy Award for Technology and Engineering.

The same outstanding technology is at work in Fuji digital cameras, particularly in the Fuji Finepix models which have set the trend in compact models excelling in low-light shooting conditions. Among the advanced technologies that go into these Fuji compacts is the Super CCD EXR sensor, which is one of the selling points of the Finepix F200 EXR. The sensors of these Fuji digital cameras bring in a versatile feature that helps the photographer adapt to three different shooting environments.

There is a fine capture mode, wherein these Fuji Finepix cameras employ 12-megapixel resolution of the EXR pixel array to capture images in bright colours up to the smallest detail. For high-contrast shooting situations, a photographer can switch to the dual capture mode wherein the Fuji compact reads two images and merges them into a single image of up to 800% in wide dynamic range to produce pictures that reveal subtleties and shadow, and eliminate washout in the brightest areas. In low-lighting situations, the Super CCD EXR is ready to take charge with its pixel-fusion mode, high-sensitivity features and pixel-binning capability wherein two pixels are combined into one super-pixel.

There are two different modes by which to access these Super CCD EXR modes. One is the priority mode which allows the photographer to manually set any of the EXR modes suitable to the shooting condition. The other is the auto mode wherein the Fuji digital cameras automatically set the best EXR mode for the shooting situation to deliver the perfect image.

Technology is progressing by leaps and bounds but the main fact is that this development is offering us several alternatives to enhance our comfort level. Earlier we used to depend on manual labours for various tasks but with the passage of time technology has offered us a wide variety of gadgets to cut our expenses which are invested on manual tasks. The computer has become the most essential part of our lives which is crafted with the potential to perform various tasks within few minutes. Our personal computer comes incorporated with a hard disk drive which maintains and controls the reading, positioning and writing of the hard disk. This is the main component of this electronic gadget which also accommodates huge amount of data at ease.

The hard disk drives basically record the information by magnetizing the material directionally in a binary digit that is either 0 or 1. They efficiently read the magnetized form of the data. The disk drives actually developed a lot during the past 24 years. It actually evolved from fifty two foot diameter disk to 3/12 inches wide. Actually, the earlier disks also had less storage capacity while the latest drives have astounding and mammoth storage capacity. Few years back, the disk drives used to look like drums but now they look very sophisticated and dignified.

A typical hard disk drive contains platters, motor, read/write heads, air filter, electronics and frame. The frame basically mounts the mechanical parts which comes sealed with a cover. The Hard Disk Assembly is the sealed portion of the drive. The electronics of the drive consists of more than one printed circuit board which remains fitted on the HDA at the bottom. The disk is not required to be mounted over the computer case to copy the required stuff.

Nowadays, there are numerous companies who are manufacturing the high quality hard Disk Drives. Some of the major brands in this section are: Samsung, Seagate, HP, VIA and so forth. These companies have specialized in producing the latest in HDD technologies like S-ATA and others. The S-ATA drives are meant to provide high speed data accessibility and transfer. Plus, the rpm rate of 7200 adds more reliability to these storage devices.

Hard Disk: An Introduction

Hard disk is a non-volatile data storage device that stores electronic data on a magnetic surface layered onto hard disk platters. Word Hard is use to differentiate it from a soft, or floppy disk. Hard disks hold more data and can store from 10 to more than 100 gigabytes, whereas most floppies have a maximum storage capacity of 1.4 megabytes and in addition are faster too. Normally term hard disk is much familiar with computers only but it is widely used as network attached storage for large volume storage. Furthermore, appliance of hard disk drives spread out to video recorders, audio players, digital organizers, digital cameras, and even in latest cellular telephones.

Reynold Johnson invented the first hard disk in 1955 for IBM 305 computer with fifty 24 inch platters and total capacity of five million characters, and in 1956 – first commercial hard disk was launched with 5 megabyte capacity, the IBM 350 RAMAC disk drive. Within time frame of 50 years and rapid progress in technical enhancement, we have now reached to latest 2006 – First 750 GB hard drive from (Seagate) and First 200 GB 2.5″ Hard Drive utilizing Perpendicular recording (Toshiba).

Heart of hard disk consists of four basic components:
The Platters: Platters are the actual disks inside the drive that store the magnetized data. Conventional platters are made of a light aluminum alloy and coated with magnetize-able material but latest technology uses glass or ceramic platters as they are thinner and also heat resisting. Most drives have at least two platters and the larger the storage capacity of the drive, the more platters there are.
The Spindle Motor: Hard disk drive consists of a spindle on which the platters spin at a constant RPM. Moving along and between the platters on a common arm are read-write heads. The platters in a drive are divided by disk spacers and are clamped to a revolving spindle that turns all the platters in a uniform motion. The spindle motor is built right into the spindle and rotates the platters at a constant set rate ranging from 3,600 to 7,200 RPM.
The Read/Write Heads: Read/write heads read and write data to the platters, and each head is fixed to a single actuator shaft so that all the heads move in harmony. Typically, only one of the heads is active at a time either reading or writing data. When not in use, the heads are inactive, but when in motion the spinning of the platters generate air pressure that lifts the heads off the platters. The space between the platter and the head is so minute that even one dust particle or a fingerprint could disable the spin.
When the platters cease spinning the heads come to rest, at a preset position on the heads, called the landing zone.
The Head Actuator: All the heads are attached to a single head actuator arm, which moves the heads around the platters. The Actuator arm moves the heads on an arc across the platters as they spin, allowing each head to access almost the entire surface of the platter. Contemporary hard drives use a voice coil actuator, which controls the movement of a coil toward or away from a permanent magnet based on the amount of current flowing through it. Fundamental structures of all hard disk are same, and are composed of the same physical features, but their performance depends on the quality of their inner components.

Hard Disk Failure:
Hard Disk Failure occurs when a hard disk drive malfunctions and the accumulate data cannot be accessed. It may happen in the course of normal operation due to an internal or external factor. Disk failure varies and the most common is “Head Crash” where the internal read and write head of a device touches a platter or magnetic storage surface often grinding away the magnetic surface. Head hover just micrometers from the platters plane which makes such collision a common one. This sort of crash usually invites severe data loss and unprofessional data recovery attempts results further damage to the remaining data. Hard drive also includes other controller electronics i.e., semiconductors, valves or electronic circuits, and major components such as Platters, Spindle Motor and Head Actuator. Failure of any these devices may cause a hard disk
failure. Factors causes disk failure are numerous, yet most common are power surges, voltage fluctuations, electronic malfunction, physical shock, wear and tear, corrosion, exposure to high magnetic waves, sharp impact, high temperature exposure etc.

The phenomena of hard disk failure is raising higher and higher; as to increase the read and write speed, today we have latest hard disk rotating amazingly faster and this immense revolving speed generates massive centrifugal force, a single adverse cause in the course of normal operation can cause severe hard disk failure.

Hard Disk Data Recovery:
Hard disk data recovery is the process of recovering the trapped data from the damage hard disk device, when it can not be accessed in normal circumstance.
Several Techniques are used to retrieving data from damaged hard disk and techniques vary accordingly. It can be done by moving disk drive to a working CPU, or may have to open the disk drive and replace parts such as read/write heads, arms and chips and sometime the platters have to be removed and placed into another drive.
Physical damage can not be repaired by the general users, as it requires clean and dust free lab environment, in addition proper hardware and technical expertise; where under microscopic examination with proper tool and techniques, the damage drive is put on to observation for data salvaging.

Flash memory may not be taking over from your regular hard disk in the near future, but it could still be playing a significant role before long.

The hard disk has been with us for longer than you’d realize. The first examples materialized back in the 1950s, and the IBM Winchester format which we still essentially use today arrived in 1973. Since then, pundits have predicted the hard disk’s doom more than once. With the rise of Flash memory in mobile devices, which have been pushing down unit prices, it is expected that solid state disks (SSDs) will take over from the mechanical variety sooner or later. But while there are no signs of this happening just yet, there is new technology bubbling under which could see Flash memory taking a greater role in PC storage.

Drive Time

The spectre haunting HD technology is the ‘superparamagnetic effect’. This supposedly sets a limit on how small the magnetic grains on a hard disk can be. Below a certain grain size, the temperature raises enough to reverse the magnetic polarity of grains. This makes the hard disk unreliable. For the time being, the superparamagnetic effect is being held at bay by new developments like perpendicular recording which allows the use of larger grains by stacking them on their ends perpendicular to the hard disk surface. With traditional recording, grains run parallel to the disk surface, so take up more room. In the long run, though, perpendicular recording will only delay the hard disk’s execution.

Flash memory also requires much less power than a mechanical disk. Additionally, Flash offers much lower access times than those of a hard disk. As a result, Flash hard disks offer boot up times 25 – 50% quicker than conventional hard disks. On the down side, Flash memory is still only available in fairly meager capacities, and those are hideously expensive.

Mix and Match

SSDs have their good and bad side compared to HDDs. This has led to a new idea; why not use both at the same time. Samsung was the first to publicize the concept, and has been talking about its Hybrid Hard Disk (HHD) for the last 2 years. This bolts 128MB of Samsung’s OneNAND Flash memory onto a regular hard disk. The Flash is used as a buffer, storing write tasks until it is full. Only then is data written to HHD. This way, during times of light usage, the hard disk can remain idle or even in sleep mode for much longer. Samsung claims this reduces power consumption by an average of 9%.

Seagate’s Momentus 5400 PSD takes a similar approach, but uses twice as much Flash (256MB). Seagate maintains the greater capacity reduces power consumption by as much as half.

Since Flash maintains its data without power, it’s an ideal place to store part of the hibernation file. Seagate argues this reduces recovery time from hibernation by 20%. Using a flash buffer can also extend the life of your hard disk, which is usually measured in terms of the average number of hours it can be in use before failure occurs.

Despite Samsung being the first to publicize the HHD, it was developed with Microsoft. In fact, two technologies within Windows Vista will make use of it. ReadyDrive is what Microsoft calls support for HDs within Windows Vista and a driver will be needed to manage the process. But Microsoft has a more surprising take on the hybrid idea, too. In recognition of the ubiquity of Flash RAM thumbdrives, Windows Vista will also contain ReadyBoost, which anyone can use. Instead of having the Flash cache built into the hard disk, ReadyBoost can use a thumbdrive instead.

Perhaps the most viable version of the hybrid idea is the one Intel is currently calling Robson. Instead of relying on the hard disk or third party add on for the Flash memory, Robson places it directly on the motherboard, connected to the Southbridge via PCI Express. That way, any disk can be used, and you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues.

The benefit of ReadyDrive is to power consumption, so it’s aimed primarily at portable computers. But with 4GB already being launched for ReadyBoost, the hybrid idea is starting to have clear implications for the desktop PC as well. So perhaps the SSD will take over from the HDD as has been predicted for so long – just in a slightly more surreptitious manner than we originally expected.
